Luggage Museum
Since 2016, the former Banque de France of the city has been home to the collection of over 200 trunks and luggage belonging to Marie and Jean-Philippe Rolland. The couple from Haguenay have patiently and passionately assembled and restored suitcases and luggage of various origins and styles, dating from the 18th century to the 1960s. These objects illustrate the evolution of means of transport (stagecoach, train, liner, plane). Some pieces are unique, notably those signed by the great luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Goyard or Moynat.
The collection, entrusted to the City of Haguenau free of charge by the Rolland couple, has already been used as the basis for an eventful exhibition in 2015, as part of the festivities for the 900th anniversary of the founding of Haguenau. As an extension of this temporary exhibition, the City of Haguenau is responsible for the permanent management of the collection, with the aim of perpetuating and popularising this unique collection in Europe.
