Biodiversity. The animals of the city

Biodiversity. The animals of the city

From September 19, 2025 to May 23, 2027: The newly renovated Zoological Museum devotes its first temporary exhibition, "BiodiverCité", to the animals of the city. Designed as a walk, rhythmic by the naturalistic illustrator Valentine Plessy's drawings, the exhibition questions the modalities of coexistence between human and non-human city dwellers at the time of environmental crises. Is the city an ecosystem like any other? While almost 80% of the French population today lives in urban units, they often remain in our imaginations of non-nature spaces. Yet animal species of all sizes and origins live alongside us on a daily basis. By looking at this nearby biodiversity, the exhibition reaffirms the need to think about the continuity of our relationships in life.

Become a doctor in Equatorial Africa

From 1 February to 31 December 2026

Exposition temporaire

By immersing himself in African reality, Schweitzer does not simply apply European models. He invents a medicine adapted to his environment, based on listening, respect and understanding of others. At the heart of the journey, the Schweitzer hospital appears as a place of care and trust, embodying its ethic of "respect for life", its architectural choices and the involvement of local people. More than just a tribute, the exhibition offers a reflection on the meeting of cultures and the need to adapt knowledge to its context. Continue your visit "in the footsteps of the Nobel Peace Prize" and discover how Albert Schweitzer's work and thought still resonate today, as an invitation to act for a more just and humane world. Exhibition « Costumes et Images d'Alsace, se garir en Pays de Hanau »

From 28 February to 25 October 2026

Exposition temporaire
Terroir & Produits Locaux

For the very first time, an exhibition analyses history, evolution and the stakes behind regional costumes worn in Hanau Country. The Museum of the Country of Hanau presents a large exhibition on the regional costume, thanks to an important construction of the collections on nearly 3,000 textile pieces - between 2022 and 2024 - having studied the rediscovered treasures. From the pieces of clothing worn on the territory, their formal evolutions and specificities, the exhibition is interested in users and functions behind the variety of fabrics, embroidery and infinity of the techniques used. Can textiles trace life paths? How did the black-knoted hair come about? The reappropriations, artistic, historical or even folkloric, will also allow us to grasp the richness, longevity and inspiration of this local textile history. Nearly 300 works are presented in the temporary exhibition space, with a large majority rotating mid-term. This is the occasion to admire new pieces coming to renew the speech, offering almost a second exhibition.

Electricity poster, 150 years of advertising creations

From 25 Jun 2026 to 30 May 2027

Exposition temporaire

The Electropolis Museum unveils its new temporary exhibition "Electricity s'affiche, 150 years of creations", an invitation to rediscover more than a century of graphic creations and advertising design dedicated to electricity, from the late 19th century to the present. As soon as it appeared on the energy market around 1880, electricity was accompanied by inventive and exciting advertising. The electricity companies, then EDF from 1946 onwards, called on numerous illustrators and posterists, including the prestigious names of Paul Colin, Bernard Villemot, Lefor Openo and Jean Effel. These images were intended to make visible an energy by nature invisible, valuing the uses, comfort and modernity that it promised. Exceptionally, the Electropolis Museum exhibits original posters, rarely presented for conservation reasons, as well as drawings, films, games, mascots and advertising items from its rich collections. The exhibition highlights the singularity of electrical advertising: far from promoting a brand or object, it tells an energy, a service and their place in everyday life. Organised according to a thematic approach (allegories, pedagogy, home, place of women, domestic uses, environment, regions), "electricity" reveals how these images are valuable markers of the evolution of society, its ways of life and its relation to energy. This exhibition is also part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of the EDF group, a major player in the French electric history and great patron of the museum, whose commitment allows today the conservation, study and transmission of an exceptional advertising and graphic fund.

Exhibition: Before horror, another Struthof

From 18 Sept 2026 to 27 Aug 2027

Exposition temporaire
Mémoire

This exhibition proposes to discover the history of the "Struthof" before the creation of the Natzweiler concentration camp. Long associated with the only memory of deportation, the site was previously a place of life, agricultural work, tourism and resort in the heart of the Vosges. Through unpublished archives, old photographs, postcards, films, objects and testimonies, the route traces the evolution of the site from the first farms from the 18th century to 1940. The visitor discovers the families who shaped these mountain landscapes, the development of farms and pastures, and then the rise of a tourist activity based on hiking, winter sports and the reception of holidaymakers. The exhibition also highlights the "Villa des Genêts d'or", the architectural transformations of the site and the profound economic and social changes that marked the Bruche valley. It finally shows how this place of leisure and relaxation was gradually caught up in the upheavals of European history before becoming, from 1941, a place of concentration terror. In revealing this unknown history, the exhibition invites us to look at the "Struthof" and understand the historical depth of a place whose memory far exceeds the camp period.

Exhibition "In the shadow of the annexed rooms. Cinema and propaganda in Alsace and Moselle (1940-1945) »

From 19 Sept 2026 to 4 Sept 2027

Exposition temporaire
Mémoire

A dive into Nazi cinema in Alsace-Moselle annexed (1940-1945), where the 7th art became a tool of propaganda and Germanization. The de facto annexations of Alsace and Moselle to the Third Reich in the summer of 1940 led to a shift in culture and a Germanization of these territories. Cinema, which was booming in the 1930s, did not escape its nationalization. A real political and economic weapon, it remains an art appreciated by the Alsatian and Mosellan public who frequent in number the rooms. This exhibition is translated into German and English. Free entrance. Free visit.
