Ecomuseum of Alsace
The largest open-air museum in France: The Écomusée d'Alsace is an open-air museum that preserves, studies and values an exceptional collection of buildings and collections bearing witness to rural life in Alsace, from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th century. Composed of wood-paned houses, workshops and buildings that are moved and assembled, this architectural collection is accompanied by everyday objects, furniture and tools related to artisanal and agricultural activities. As the Musée de France, the Écomusée d'Alsace carries out conservation, research and transmission missions, notably through the presentation of traditional gestures and know-how. Located in Ungersheim, he is also part of a contemporary approach of reflection on the relations between societies, territories and the environment.
