A Love of Lalique – An idea of Paradise
Lien copié !From 1 February to 29 March 2026
Exposition temporaire
FreeFrom 1 February to 29 March, a selection of works from the collection of the Fonds Régional d'Art Contemporain (FRAC) Alsace resonates with a choice made among the rooms at the Lalique museum. For this first collaboration, it is a certain vision of paradise that is proposed during the exhibition. The selected works give each visitor the opportunity to cross birds, insects of all kinds and to discover the diversity of a plant world that can evoke the luxuriance of the Garden of Eden. All these subjects and forms have inspired René Lalique, a jeweler who became master glassmaker and these successors, and who are still today reinterpreted by contemporary artists. In the exhibition, the human presence quietly and gradually makes its appearance. The photograph "Eve passing a soap to Adam" by Darbelley and Jacquelin is a pivotal moment, a tipping point in the stage path. The "Snake" vase and the "Apple" of Lalique reinforce the well-known history of the original couple even if the story is made here through the prism of lags, stalls and freedoms offered by the artistic creation of yesterday and today. In this narrative proposal, human beings then become more and more prominent. Jewelry, glass works, photographs, videos, sculptures... offer a secular discourse of a "paradis" that everyone can perceive.
